
On Wednesday, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump for agreeing to extend the ceasefire.
In a message on X, he said that, on his own behalf and on behalf of Field Marshal Asim Munir, he is grateful to President Trump for accepting their request to prolong the ceasefire.

He expressed hope that the parties involved will conclude a comprehensive peace agreement during the second round of talks in Islamabad to permanently resolve the conflict.
The Prime Minister underlined that Pakistan will continue all-out efforts to promote a negotiated settlement and said he was confident all parties will maintain the ceasefire.
Earlier, President Trump had noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir had requested a halt to attacks pending a mutually agreed proposal from Iran’s leadership, and that attacks on Iran were being stopped at their request.
